Q: Are there any prerequisites for the CFSC?
No, there are no prerequisites. If anything, we are looking for CNPs (Certified Nice Person). We will teach you the coaching and programming systems that have made MBSC the #1 Gym in America.
Q: Does the CFSC Require Recertification?
A: Our goal with the recertification process was to keep it as simple as possible while making sure CFSCs are still up to date with the philosophy and systems we implement at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning as well as being able to proficiently coach the drills and movements in the program. Recertification is required every 3-years and involves passing an updated written exam based on the newest study material and a video submission based off of 8 exercises, drills, and movements. Recertification costs $250. If you pass a Level-2 certification the starting date of the 3-year term resets.
Q: How many spots will you have for each hands on training?
A: We will be limiting sign ups for each hands on training to ensure that people that attend get the attention needed and a high quality educational environment. For the first few trainings we are capping the attendance at 54. We do not want to have 100+ people in a room with one coach. We believe that to maintain a high quality of coaching, the groups must not be too big. Our maximum ratio is 1 MBSC coach for every 14 attendees.
Q: Can I just take the certification online?
A: No. A significant portion of the certification evolves around the ability to demonstrate and coach the movements of the MBSC program. Once registering for the certification and passing the written exam online you will be able to attend the onsite training. There you will be taught the exercises as well as the coaching cues that the coaches at MBSC use.
Q: What does the pretesting and On-Site testing consist of?
A: Once you sign up for the Level-1 CFSC certification, you will be given access to a library of videos and other educational content on our website. The written exam (which must be passed before the on-site training) will be created based on that content. It is multiple choice and we require a 70% or better score to pass. Level-2 is very similar.
Q: What happens if someone fails the hands on exam?
A: We understand there will be circumstances where people might fail the hands on testing due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances. When this is the case, people can submit a video demonstrating their competence to pass. After the video is submitted and reviewed we notify you if you have completed the certification. There is a $200 fee for submitting a retake.
Q: Is CFSC partnering with anyone?
A: Yes, we are partnering with Functional Movement Systems (Functional Movement Screen) and Precision Nutrition. These are not requirements, but CFSC members will be able to get discounted rates if they chose to take these certifications/courses. We are also going to be working with Perform Better to make it more enticing to attend their fantastic seminars.
Q: What does the 1-Day On-Site Training Consist of?
A: After passing the written exam (multiple choice and done online) you will attend on of the hands on trainings which are 1-day. We get all of the lectures out of the way online as well as the written portion of the certification. We know it is difficult to take a single day off, let alone multiple days off back to back for continuing education.
There you will be taken through, step-by-step, the movements we use at MBSC as well as how they are coaches. That includes coaching cues, mistakes to look out for, how to correct them, and how to address common issues that can occur and how to address them. Simply, we are going to make good coaches great and great coaches even better. At MBSC we are know for our great coaches. Even the best program can become ineffective if not coached properly.
Q: Will there be multiple Levels (Level 1 and Level 2)?
A: Yes. Phase 1 will focus more on the Adult Program while Phase 2 will focus more on the athletes. The program between the two populations is similar, with more emphasis on advanced speed, plyometrics, and ballistics in the athlete program. Olympic lifts are also a staple in the athlete program and ample time needs to be devoted to teaching them at the hands on training.
Q: What is the Cancellation Policy?
A: You may cancel your registration up to 30 days before the date of your On-Site Training date with a $50 cancellation fee.
Within 30 days of the event, since you are reserving a spot when you register for a certification with limited space, you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee if you can not attend or if you need to postpone to another date. Please contact us at email@example.com with any questions.
