Are there any prerequisites for the CFSC?

No, there are no prerequisites. If anything, we are looking for CNPs (Certified Nice Person). We will teach you the coaching and programming systems that have made MBSC the #1 Gym in America.

Does the CFSC Require Recertification?

Our goal with the recertification process was to keep it as simple as possible while making sure CFSCs are still up to date with the philosophy and systems we implement at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning as well as being able to proficiently coach the drills and movements in the program. Recertification is required every 3-years and involves passing an updated written exam based on the newest study material and a video submission based off of 8 exercises, drills, and movements. Recertification costs $99. If you pass a Level-2 certification the starting date of the 3-year term resets.

How many spots will you have for each hands on training?

We will be limiting sign ups for each hands on training to ensure that people that attend get the attention needed and a high quality educational environment. For the first few trainings we are capping the attendance at 54. We do not want to have 100+ people in a room with one coach. We believe that to maintain a high quality of coaching, the groups must not be too big. Our maximum ratio is 1 MBSC coach for every 14 attendees.

What does the Written Exam and practical exam consist of?

Both of our Level 1 and Level 2 in-person and online certifications includes a written and practical exam.

Once you sign up for either our online or in-person CFSC certification , you will be given access to a library of videos and educational content on our website.

After completing all of the online course educational materials you will take the written exam that is in your account. The written exam (which must be passed before you attend the in-person practical training) will be created based on that content. It is multiple choice and we require a 80% or better score to pass.

If you are taking our in-person certification course, you will attend your in-person workshop that you registered for. At the end of the day you will complete your practical exam that will consist of five exercises that you must instruct and demonstrate properly in order to pass the exam.

If you are taking our online certification course you will take an online practical exam. The online practical exam consists of 10 exercises from the online course materials which you must film yourself instructing and demonstrating according to the prompt and submit on the practical test portal in your account.

If you fail the written/online exam there is a $25 retake fee.

What happens if someone fails the hands on exam?

We understand there will be circumstances where people might fail the hands on testing due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances. When this is the case, people can submit a video demonstrating their competence to pass. After the video is submitted and reviewed we notify you if you have completed the certification. There is a $100 fee for submitting a retake.

Is CFSC partnering with anyone?

Yes, we are partnering with Functional Movement Systems (Functional Movement Screen) and Precision Nutrition. These are not requirements, but CFSC members will be able to get discounted rates if they chose to take these certifications/courses. We are also going to be working with Perform Better to make it more enticing to attend their fantastic seminars.

What does the 1-Day On-Site Training Consist of?

After passing the written exam (completed online prior to the workshop) you will attend of the in-person certification workshop that you registered for.

At the in-person workshop you will be taken through, step-by-step, the exercise progressions we use at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning. Our coaches will instruct you on  movement preparation drills, power exercises and strength training.  We will cover our exercise cueing, progressions and regressions, and how to correct common mistake that occur during training.

Following completion of all of the practical education you will take your practical examination with your course instructor.

Will there be multiple Levels (Level 1 and Level 2)?

Yes. Phase 1 will focus more on the Adult Program while Phase 2 will focus more on the athletes. The program between the two populations is similar, with more emphasis on advanced speed, plyometrics, and ballistics in the athlete program. Olympic lifts are also a staple in the athlete program and ample time needs to be devoted to teaching them at the hands on training.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

CFSC Live Workshop Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your registration up to 30 days before the date of your On-Site Training date with a $150.00 cancellation fee.

Within 30 days of the event, since you are reserving a spot when you register for a certification with limited space, you will be charged a $250.00 cancellation fee if you cannot attend or if you need to postpone to another date. Please contact us at certifiedfunctionalsc@gmail.com with any questions.

CFSC strongly recommends that you refrain from booking travel until 30 days prior to the event in case of possible cancellation due to low enrollment. While we do not cancel events often, we will cancel if we do not reach a minimum enrollment of 15 participants. If we plan to cancel CFSC will contact you directly to notify you 30 days prior to the event date. CFSC bears no financial responsibility for reimbursement of travel costs in the event of a canceled event.
